The Zurich Street Parade 2026 passed largely peacefully, but police still made 30 arrests and emergency services treated 906 people during the city’s annual techno festival. But the original 30-arrest figure refers only to the Zurich City Police; the broader total, including the cantonal police, was 46. Authorities said the security measures worked, despite incidents involving theft, drug offences, assaults and excessive alcohol or drug consumption.
Zurich City Police arrested several people, including two women, over the course of the event and the following night. The arrests involved suspected theft, drug trafficking, bodily harm and violations of Switzerland’s Foreign Nationals and Integration Act.
The suspects included Swiss nationals and people from Italy, Gambia, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Mali, Colombia, Chile, Romania and Brazil. Police said only four of those arrested had a permanent residence in Switzerland.
Officers also seized slightly more than 50 grams of amphetamines, more than 40 grams of ketamine, around 20 grams of cocaine and more than 100 ecstasy tablets.
Fourteen people were taken to Zurich’s sobering-up and care centre after excessive alcohol or drug consumption created a risk to themselves or others.
The police report said that confrontations, assaults and bodily-harm incidents increased during the evening and night, as has often been the case at the event. However, officers reported no serious injuries directly linked to those incidents.

25-Year-Old Seriously Injured
A serious incident occurred shortly after 1:15am on Sunday at Schanzengasse in Zurich’s Kreis 1. A 25-year-old man fell around seven metres from a railway footbridge onto the platform below and suffered significant head injuries.
Initial police findings gave no indication that the fall resulted from a criminal act. The circumstances remain under investigation. Police said that, based on the information available at the time, there had been no reports of other people suffering severe injuries during the Street Parade.
Zurich Street Parade 2026: Medical Cases Rise From 2025
Schutz & Rettung Zürich recorded 906 medical treatments before the last medical post closed shortly after midnight. That was higher than the 757 treatments recorded at the 2025 Street Parade.
The largest category involved cuts and grazes, which accounted for 263 treatments. Alcohol-related cases were the second-largest category, with 223 treatments. Emergency teams also dealt with insect bites, bruises, sprains and heat-related complaints, including circulatory problems, sunstroke symptoms and headaches.
A total of 45 people were taken to hospital for further treatment or assessment, compared with 54 during the previous year’s event. Although the number of medical treatments increased, the number of hospital transfers fell.
Some 128 people were taken from the medical posts to a temporary accommodation facility for monitoring and recovery after alcohol or drug consumption. That compared with 95 people in 2025.
Police Call Operation Successful
The event required a large-scale deployment involving Zurich City Police, Schutz & Rettung, the fire service, civil protection and other emergency personnel. Earlier planning by Schutz & Rettung had placed around 400 additional staff on duty, including ambulance crews, emergency dispatchers, firefighters, civil-protection teams and logistics personnel.
Police also took action against illegal street traders and issued eight reports involving unauthorised vendors. Officials warned several restaurants about broadcasting sound into outdoor areas through open windows and reminded people carrying outdoor speaker systems of the applicable rules.
Despite the arrests, drug seizures and higher number of medical treatments, Zurich City Police described the overall operation as successful. The force said the security measures had once again proved effective and that the Street Parade had been largely peaceful.
