Migros has launched another product recall after a batch of breaded chicken escalopes was given the wrong use-by date. The latest incident is not the retailer’s first recall this year, highlighting the importance of checking official product warnings rather than relying solely on packaging dates.
The Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) said the affected Migros breaded chicken escalopes were incorrectly marked with a use-by date of 2 October 2026. The correct date is 28 August 2026.
Migros removed the product from sale and initiated a recall. The FSVO says a health risk cannot be ruled out if the chicken is consumed after August 28.

Consumers Urged To Check Packaging
The FSVO advises consumers not to eat the affected product after August 28, even if the October date appears on the package. A “use by” date applies to highly perishable foods such as raw meat and poultry; after that date, the product must not be sold or consumed for safety reasons.
Customers should check the article number and printed date before returning or disposing of the product in line with Migros’ recall instructions.
Not Migros’ First Recall In 2026
The chicken recall follows other Migros product withdrawals earlier this year. In January, Migros recalled several organic sprout and shoot products sold through selected regional cooperatives and Migros Online after a potential health risk was identified. The affected items included Bio-Power-Mix, organic mung bean sprouts and organic shoots mix.
Migros advised customers not to consume the products, which had already been removed from sale. Customers could return purchases for a refund, while online customers were contacted by customer service.
The recalled sprout products were limited to outlets in the Basel, Lucerne, Eastern Switzerland, Ticino and Zurich cooperatives, as well as Migros Online. Products sold by several other cooperatives were not affected.
Migros Issues Another Product Recall: Retailer Maintains Recall System
Migros operates a public product-recall portal where customers can find current safety notices, affected article numbers and instructions for refunds or returns. The retailer describes product safety as a top priority.
Each recall involves a specific product, batch or use-by date, and previous incidents should not be taken to mean that all products in a category are affected. Consumers should therefore follow the details in the relevant official notice.
