The incident occurred shortly before 14:30 on Wednesday 10 June 2026 at Sandacker in the Kreis 11 district of Zürich. The City Police received the alarm call and officers arrived to find a 31-year-old man with a cut wound. He was treated at the scene and then transported by Schutz & Rettung Zürich paramedics to hospital.
The suspected attacker, a 55-year-old Syrian national, was located and arrested at his home by officers from the Zürich Cantonal Police, acting in cooperation with the City Police.
According to the City of Zürich police, the two men had become involved in a dispute, during which the alleged attacker produced a bladed weapon and used it against the victim. The incident occurred at a dry cleaning shop, with images from the scene showing an open cash register on the premises.

The background and precise circumstances of the altercation remain unclear.
Specialists from both the Forensisches Institut Zürich and the Institut für Rechtsmedizin Zürich were called to the scene to carry out evidence and forensic medicine work.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Zürich Cantonal Police and the State Prosecutor’s Office I for Serious Violent Crime.
