A 31-year-old man has been seriously injured and a 40-year-old man moderately hurt after a violent altercation broke out in the early hours of Sunday morning in Zürich’s District 4.
The incident occurred shortly before 2:30 a.m. on 5 July in the eastern pedestrian underpass of Langstrasse, near the exit to the 25 Hours Hotel. According to initial findings, a dispute erupted between a group of men of Afghan origin and a 40-year-old man of Iranian origin, though the exact trigger remains unclear.
During the confrontation, the Iranian man sustained moderate injuries, and the 31-year-old Afghan man was seriously wounded. Both were treated by Zurich emergency medical services and transported to the hospital.
A comprehensive forensic examination was conducted at the scene and on the individuals involved.
The background and precise sequence of events are now the subject of an investigation led by the cantonal police and the responsible public prosecutor’s office for serious violent crime.

Authorities are asking anyone who was in the area around 2:30 am on Sunday, 5 July, and made suspicious observations to come forward. The location was the eastern pedestrian underpass of Langstrasse between districts 4 and 5, near the 25 Hours Hotel exit, 8004 Zürich.
