A routine vehicle search in Zürich’s District 9 on Thursday, 18 June 2026, unravelled a drug supply network, resulting in the arrest of three people and the seizure of more than 25 kilograms of narcotics.
The seized narcotics include MDMA, marijuana, cocaine, ketamine, hashish and amphetamine, as well as 15 kilograms of silver, Zürich City Police announced on 23 June 2026.
The operation began not in Zürich but across the border in southern Germany, where the suspected driver had fled from a police check at high speed. What started as a cross-border pursuit ended with one of the larger narcotics seizures.
“A 38-year-old German man, the suspected driver, was arrested in the immediate vicinity of the vehicle,” Zürich police said. “They also encountered a 28-year-old Swiss woman who lived there as well. She, too, was arrested.”

Drug Network Unravelled: All Three Suspects Remain In Pre-trial Custody
Shortly after 15:45 on Thursday afternoon, detectives from the Zürich City Police spotted a vehicle in Kreis 9 that had been flagged in a search request issued by the Schaffhausen customs office. The car’s suspected driver, a 38-year-old German national, had earlier evaded a police check in southern Germany, fleeing at excessive speed and in a manner that authorities described as dangerous, triggering a cross-border alert.
Officers stopped and searched the vehicle at the scene. They found immediate evidence of narcotics. The German man in the vicinity of the car was arrested on the spot.
Investigators then moved to the arrested man’s Zürich apartment and carried out a search. Inside, they found nearly 2 kg of MDMA, over 9 kg of marijuana, quantities of cocaine, ketamine and hashish.
A 28-year-old Swiss woman also living at the address was present during the search. She too was arrested.
While the apartment search was still under way, an unidentified man arrived at the flat and was intercepted by officers already on the scene. The 33-year-old Swiss man was found to be carrying approximately 1 kilogram of amphetamine. He was arrested and taken to a police station.
Further investigations are being conducted jointly by the Zürich Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Zürich City Police.
No further details about the suspects’ identities have been released.
