Zurich police have arrested eight people aged 16 to 19 in connection with two attacks about an hour apart earlier this month. Both victims suffered moderate injuries, and prosecutors have opened proceedings against all eight suspects on suspicion of attempted homicide.
On the evening of 11 September 2026, a group attacked a 21-year-old Swiss man in Zurich’s District 4. Roughly an hour later, several people attacked a 25-year-old Spanish man outside Stettbach station in District 12. Investigators currently believe the same group was involved in both incidents.
The attacks, recorded by surveillance cameras, reveal a shocking level of violence: The victims were attacked without warning and assaulted with objects, including glass bottles and kicks to the head, while lying defenceless on the ground.

The Authorities Described The Level Of Violence As “Shocking”
According to a joint statement from the Zurich cantonal police, public prosecutor’s office and juvenile prosecutor’s office, surveillance footage shows the victims being struck with glass bottles and kicked in the head while lying defenceless on the ground.
Police arrested the eight suspects in a coordinated operation on Tuesday, 22 September 2026.
A court ordered pre-trial detention for the adult suspects on Thursday; those under 18 are in the custody of the juvenile prosecutor’s office.
Authorities have not disclosed a motive or said whether the two victims knew their attackers.
